The success of a sports facility is heavily reliant upon the suitability of its floor or playing surface in interaction with balls, players and wheels. It is vital to consider the surface requirements when planning and preparing costings for a new facility.
A tarmac surface is most commonly used for MUGA pitches providing a hardwearing surface for most sports play requirements.
Multi-sport synthetic grass pitches make it possible to play several sports on a single pitch. Artificial grass products can withstand rough handling and this makes them highly suitable for intensive use; not only for sports such as basketball, football and tennis but also for other games and activities.
Polymeric surfacing material has a high slip resistance rating and provides a cushioned feel underfoot. The surface is made up of EPDM rubber crumb granules mixed together with a binder and laid onto a macadam base followed by the application of an anti-slip coating.
Wetpour surfacing is made up of resin bonded rubber granules, laid in varying thicknesses. Wetpour is impact absorbing and can be supplied in both black and colour.
Custom graphics and shapes can be incorporated into any installation along with standard sports line markings.

Tarmac
A tarmac finish is the most commonly used surface option due to its durability and flexibility to cover a range of activities such as basketball and netball. Made of high-quality materials, it is easy to maintain, and the surface can also be finished with non-slip coatings and line markings.
Wetpour
Wetpour is an impact absorbing rubber crumb safety surface. The rubber granules are mixed with a polyurethane resin and laid in the desired colour.
The rubber flooring offers impact absorption for any trips or falls in the area. Also known as ‘soft tarmac’, this surface type can be installed in a huge variety of colours, and combined with play graphics, the possibility of creating a truly bespoke games/play space is limited only by imagination.
Synthetic
For football and rugby, a synthetic surface is ideal as the rubber infill layer helps to prevent joint injuries. The pitch specification can be tailored to suit each individual project.
Where rugby is an option, a shockpad should always be included as part of the installation process as it will provide better qualities for both safety and performance as well as giving greater shock absorption for players.
Polymeric
Polymeric MUGA surface types are a long lasting and durable sports court material which provides an ideal playing surface for tennis, netball, and basketball.
Anti-slip paint coatings and line markings are applied to polymeric rubber surfacing in a variety of colours to create and differentiate between specific playing areas.
